Our Mission
About NATIVA
We're on a mission to eliminate plastic hotel keycards by replacing them with beautiful, sustainable RFID wristbands crafted from FSC-certified wood, OEKO-TEX organic cotton, bamboo, and hemp.
The Problem We Solve
1.4 Billion Plastic Keycards Issued Every Year
The global hotel industry issues approximately 1.4 billion single-use PVC plastic keycards annually. Each card takes over 450 years to decompose. In the Caribbean — one of the world's most ecologically sensitive regions — millions of these cards end up in landfills or waterways each year.
At the same time, the modern traveler has fundamentally changed. Millennials and Gen Z — now the dominant booking demographic — actively seek eco-certified accommodation. Green Globe and Rainforest Alliance certifications are increasingly booking-critical, not merely promotional. Sustainable credentials directly drive revenue.
NATIVA bridges the gap between sustainability and function. Our wristbands use the same RFID technology as traditional hotel keycards — MIFARE DESFire EV3 at 13.56 MHz — but in materials that are FSC-certified, OEKO-TEX tested, and biodegradable. Guests wear them as natural jewelry. Hotels earn certifications. Everyone wins.
