Why the setting decides the credential
A wristband specified for a spa fails at a water park, and a water-park band is wrong at a boutique hotel — not because one is better made, but because each setting loads the credential differently. Wear period, moisture pattern, issue rate, who is wearing it and what happens when it is lost vary more between these ten environments than any product specification does.
These pages are written from the operating problem in each setting rather than from a product range. They describe who is issued what, what the front desk and housekeeping have to absorb, and what specifically changes the choice of construction there.
What differs most between settings
Four things, in roughly this order of impact. How wet the credential gets, and how often — daily immersion, occasional splash, dew and drying, salt. How fast credentials have to be issued, which separates a boutique lobby from a festival gate. Whether transfer has to be controlled, which decides the closure. And whether credentials come back, which decides the quantity.
Everything else — material, colour, artwork — follows from those four. Properties that start with the material and work backwards usually end up re-specifying.

Most properties are more than one of these
A resort with a spa, a beach club and a conference programme has three of these environments and probably four populations. That does not mean four separate products — it usually means one artwork family across two or three constructions, with colour carrying the difference.
