Why silicone is the operational default
It is unaffected by pool and salt water at the exposures guests generate, it cleans completely, it survives being recovered and reissued, and it can be moulded into whatever closure the property’s security model requires. No other material in the range does all four.
What it is not is discreet. A moulded band reads as leisure equipment, which is exactly right at a pool and wrong at a quiet adult hotel — and that, rather than durability, is the reason properties look elsewhere.
The four decisions inside the family
Choosing within silicone is not choosing a colour. It is four decisions that between them determine the model: how wide the strap is, what shape the module face takes, what the closure does, and whether the band is recovered.
Width trades artwork area and durability against comfort. Face shape decides how much mark the band can carry and how it behaves against impacts. Closure decides whether transfer is controlled. Recovery decides the quantity more than headcount does.

Where these bands actually fail
Not in the water. They fail at the post hole when a guest forces a closure at an angle, and at the shoulder where the face meets the strap when the band is pulled hard. Chlorine does very little by comparison.
That is why the heavier constructions concentrate material at those two points rather than thickening the whole strap, and why inspection during a reissue cycle looks for an elongating hole and a lifted face edge rather than for general wear.
Decoration that survives the season
Screen print gives the finest detail and dulls first, particularly where sunscreen collects. Debossing carries the mark in the geometry, so it survives cleaning and abrasion; an infilled deboss adds colour without adding a wearable layer. Moulded-in colour cannot wear off at all and is fixed at set-up.
For a band worn for a week, deboss or infill is the default. For a band worn for a day, print is fine and cheaper.
Colour as an access system
Silicone is the family where colour-coded access works best, because moulded colour is stable and legible at distance. Two cautions: wet silicone reads darker, which can collapse the difference between two similar tones, and each colour is its own count against the minimum.
Agree the whole palette at the first order, including tiers not yet running, and choose on hue contrast rather than tone so the system still works at the end of a season.
Minimum order is 500 pieces per artwork, with 14–21 days production after artwork approval. Colours and sizes are separate counts, so a four-tier programme in three sizes is a very different order from a single band.
